Hey there everyone.

As you know this tribe currently has "Moderated Membership" which basically means people have to send a message to me and be approved to join the tribe. I am thinking of changing over to an "Open Membership" arrangement so anyone can join without waiting for me to check my mail and accept them.

I am very interested to know if anyone would object to this change. Or if you have any other thoughts or opinions about it.

Here is why: I am planning to move at the end of the month. Once I move, I will have no access to the internet for an indeterminate amount of time which means I won't be able to login here an approve people who want to join. (Last time I moved it took a month of rescheduling and bitching for the telephone company to actually show up and connect my phone.) By changing to an open membership system, people can join as they wish without having to wait for me to check my messages.

Alternately, I'd be happy to turn over the moderating of this tribe to someone else if anyone is interested. This could be a temporary or permanent arrangement. There isn't much to it except for approving new members.

Anyway, Please let me know what you think. If nobody really cares, I'll just switch to open membership. If someone wants to take over moderating for the time being, please contact me immediately. If nobody cares one way or the other, I'll just switch the tribe to open membership before I move and let things go from there.
